Grace Harris scored 47, helping Brisbane Heat post 160/7 in 20 overs

Brisbane Heat consolidated their third spot in the points table with a massive 43-run victory over seventh-placed Adelaide Strikers. Sophie Devine's all-round show went in vain as Strikers collapsed from a comfortable 75/0 to 117/7 in a chase of 161, to crash to their third defeat on the trot.
The experienced opening pair of New Zealand, Suzie Bates and Devine, had put Strikers well on course in the chase. However, Delissa Kimmince scripted a turnaround with the ball for Heat, taking out well-set duo to trigger a massive collapse for the Strikers. The visitors failed to pick up momentum again, and could post only 117 from their allotted overs to concede the game by 43 runs.
Earlier, put in to bat first, Heat posted a strong 160/7 courtesy brisk cameos from opener Grace Harris (47) and later, Josephine Dooley (48 not out). Devine picked up two wickets in quick succession, before Harris departed three short of her half-century to leave the hosts at 80 for 3 at the halfway mark. However, skipper Kirby Short and Dooley gave them a strong finish, picking 56 runs off the last six overs.
Dooley finished unbeaten on 48 as Megan Schutt's double strikes in the penultimate over dented the momentum a tad. However, 160 proved to be too difficult a task for the struggling Strikers unit.
Brief scores: Brisbane Heat 160/7 in 20 overs (Josephine Dooley 48*, Grace Harris 47; Megan Schutt 2-25, Sophie Devine 2-15) beat Adelaide Strikers 117/7 in 20 overs (Sophie Devine 39, Suzie Bates 31; Delissa Kimmince 3-21, Sune Luus 2-21) by 43 runs.
Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Stars
Rain and hail had the final say in Sydney, forcing the Thunder vs Stars game to be called off. Hosts Thunder opted to bat first and had posted 21/1 from 2.5 overs before the rain made first appearance. Consequently, the game was reduced to 14-overs-per-side contest. Thunder resumed their innings after a long break and had marched on to 92/3 from 10.1 overs, courtesy cameos from Harmanpreet Kaur (21*) and Alex Blackwell (20*), before rain returned. The match was first further reduced to 10-overs-a-side affair and eventually abandoned altogether due to consistent showers. The two teams split the points.
Brief Scores: Sydney Thunder 92/3 in 10.1 overs (Rachael Haynes 21, Harmanpreet Kaur 21*; Holly Ferling 2-25) vs Melbourne Stars. Match abandoned due to rain.
